Packerland Conference Boys Basketball Season Nearing Its End

The regional basketball tournament is just a few weeks away and teams in the Packerland Boys Basketball Conference are jockeying for regional positioning. Last night in Sturgeon Bay, the Clippers kept pace with Southern Door for second place in the conference by topping Sevastopol 63-30.

Sturgeon Bay may be playing its best basketball to this point of the season right now. Sevastopol was held scoreless in the first quarter and Sturgeon Bay held a 37-5 advantage at halftime. Matt Seiler and Matt VanBramer each scored 11 points to lead Sturgeon Bay. Cody Giesseman finished with 12 points for Sevastopol.

Southern Door lit up the scoreboard with 72 points opposed to Gibraltar's 43. The Eagles rode the hot hand of underclassman Trevor Hawkey who managed to score a season high 21 points. Freshman Mitchell Gerand added 12 points in the win. Gibraltar was led by Brandon Steebs' 13 points.

Luxemburg-Casco almost hit the century mark by scoring 93 points against Oconto Falls. The 93-32 win marked the second time this season the Spartans eclipsed 90 points. David Vlotho led the way with 19 points. Jake Zeitler added 18 in the lopsided victory.
