Door and Kewaunee Counties will be a hotbed for snowmobilers this weekend as many of the area trails are now open for riding.
In Door County, ALL sections of the snowmobile trail system are now open. Trail conditions are listed as fair. In the central section there will be a detour North of Valmy due to water on the trail.
For the latest in trail conditions, updates and changes visit http://map.co.door.wi.us/parks for more information.
In Kewaunee County, three snowmobile sections are open to riders including Section 1, Section 2 and Section 4. Section 3 remains closed at this time. Riders should review the Kewaunee County Snowmobile Trails Map for exact Section location. That map may found at www.kewauneeco.org/rec and at numerous businesses throughout Kewaunee County. You can also call their 24-hour information line before heading out if you have any doubts about current trail status and conditions. That number is (920) 388-7199.
Riders in both counties are asked to use caution as trail conditions may be less than ideal in certain areas. Plowed and open fields may lack snow cover and riders are urged to watch out for slush and icy patches along the trails. Snowmobilers are also encouraged to stay on the marked trails and respect adjoining property owners. Hundreds of gracious landowners are responsible for the areas state-funded and club trails. Please respect their property and their privacy.
