This past weekend, 2010 Southern Door High School graduate Taylor Jandrin and the Lakeland Muskies traveled to Wisconsin Lutheran College for a Northern Athletics Conference basketball matchup which saw the Warriors victorious 69-58. Coming into the game, the Muskies (8-13, 6-8) were the last to beat the Warriors (17-2, 12-0) in conference play dating back to last season. This time it was a lopsided affair for most of the contest as the Warriors led by as many as 17, and double digits most of the game. Jandrin and the Muskies struggled to stop the Warrior inside presence as Wisconsin Lutherans’ post play was the key to the win.
The Warriors came out firing on all cylinders in the first half and nearly finished the half shooting 50 percent. Toward the end of the first half, the Muskies started hitting their stride. Following two scoring surges, Lakeland finished the half only down 11 but had the momentum.
The second half was more of a battle as the Warriors were able to hold off several Lakeland surges. The Muskies twice got the deficit to eight on big shots from Jandrin. The Warriors eventually pulled out to a big lead by getting easy points in the paint.
Jandrin finished with nine points on three of four shooting and was perfect from behind the three point arc. The junior guard started and played 26 minutes.
Lakeland’s next game will be Saturday at home against Aurora University; tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
