Green Bay Blizzard Sign Seven New Players

Coming off a successful weekend of open tryouts the Green Bay Blizzard have extended offers to three players from the tryouts in WR DeAndre Sherill, OL John Nicholas and RB Levell Coppage. In addition, the Blizzard continue to fill out their training camp roster by signing four additional players in K Jordan Wettstein, DB Kyle Longsdorf ,DB Elijah Fields and OL Bryan Brooks.

OL John Nicholas, K Jordan Wettstein and RB Levell Coppage all have Green Bay area ties.

OL John Nicholas (6'4.290) was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Nicholas played in 32 games during his career as a Titan and helped Wisconsin-Oshkosh rush for over 2,100 yards and 2,100 passing yards. After his senior season Nicholas was invited to the All-American Bowl in Minneapolis, Minn. Nicholas is a member of the Oneida Tribe. 

RB Levell Coppage (5'8, 203) is the all-time leading rushing record holder at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Coppage was the starting running back for the Warhawks during their three national championships in 2009, 2010 and 2011. During his collegiate career Coppage ran for 7,795 yards. He holds several team records including rushing yards in a game (386) and touchdowns in a season (35). 

WR DeAndre Sherill (6'4,215) played his collegiate career at the University of Minnesota- Duluth. Sherill was part of the Minnesota-Duluth team that won two national championships.

"We are very happy to add this group of players just ahead of training camp," said Head Coach Robert Fuller. "It was nice to be able to sign some players from our try out and I'm excited to see what Dre, Levell, and John can do in camp against great competition."

Jordan Wettstein (5'11,185) lives locally in De Pere WI  and is a graduate of De Pere High School and is a graduate of the University of Minnesota. A Gopher, Wettstein earned Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week for his 2011 performance against Iowa and was also named to the Academic All-Big Ten.

 "Jordan is a great story and it is nice to get a local player with his ability and potential. We like his demeanor and he's kicked in some tough venues," said Fuller.

DB Kyle Longsdorf (6'1, 190) has re-signed with the Blizzard for the 2013 season. In 2012 Longsdorf finished the season with 17 total tackles and a pass break-up. Longsdorf graduated from Defiance College. As a Senior, Longsdorf recorded a team high 139 tackles, four interceptions (two for touchdowns and 12 passes defensed.

"Kyle is the definition of a team first player and he gives his best effort every practice," added Fuller. "He is one of the most unselfish players I've ever coached and we are happy to have him back."

OL Bryan Brooks (6'6, 300) played collegiately at Coastal Carolina University. At Coastal Carolina, Brooks was a four year starter while starting in 38 consecutive games. He was a First Team All Big South Selection during his senior season. 

DB Elijah Fields (6'2,215) was traded to the Green Bay Blizzard from the Cedar Rapids Titans. As a member of the Titans in 2012 Fields played in seven games and accumulated  49 tackles, two sacks and  before missing the remainder of the season due to injury. In college Fields played for the University of Pittsburgh. 

"We really like Brooks and Fields and we think they have a great deal of potential," added Coach Fuller.
