Former Chicago Bears Head Coach Lovie Smith said beating the Green Bay Packers every year was one of the most important goals every season. New head coach Marc Trestman has not come out with as forthright of a statement as Smith did when he took over the post ten years ago, but beating the Packers will be a part of their general group of goals.
The first task will likely be revitalizing a Jay Cutler led offense. Trestman is an offensive minded coach coming from the Canadian Football League. Lovie Smith was known for his defensive prowess.
Trestman has been out of the NFL for eight years but did lead the Montreal Alouettes to back-to-back Grey Cup championships in the Canadian Football League. In five years as the team's head coach, Trestman compiled a (64-34) overall record.
