Sturgeon Bay never scored double digits in a single quarter last night in Packerland Conference girls hoops, but still managed to top Gibraltar in a defensive slug fest. The lowest scoring game to date in the conference was not pretty, but a win is a win for the Clippers. The 28-22 win over Gibraltar featured a first quarter shutout. The Vikings did not score in the first eight minutes of the game. The halftime score was 9-6 Sturgeon Bay. Natalie Rose led all scorers with 11 points for Sturgeon Bay.
A Bay Conference rivalry played out between Luxemburg-Casco and Denmark and home court advantage may have played a role in the outcome. One of the most hostile environments for visiting teams, Denmark High School students cheered the Viking on to a 53-41 win over Luxemburg-Casco. Sarah Kinnard scored 12 points and Lexi Kinnard added 11 for Luxemburg-Casco.
