Milwaukee Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun will bat third in the All-Star game tonight as announced by National League manager Tony La Russa yesterday. The league leader in home runs at the halfway point of the season will make his fourth start in his fifth All-Star appearance.
Braun's numbers have been extremely impressive including a .306 batting average, a National League-best 24 home runs, and 61 RBIs. The 28 year old will tie a Brewers record tonight by playing in his fifth All-Star Game (Cecil Cooper and Paul Molitor). He is under contract with Milwaukee through the 2020 season so breaking the record seems like a given.
Played at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, All-Star Game coverage will begin at 6:30 PM.
