It was one of the strangest 2-1 walk-off wins possible for the Milwaukee Brewers Sunday. Carlos Gomez reached safely in the ninth inning and with Rickie Weeks at the plate attempted to steal second base. The speedster got a great jump on an off speed pitch and slid into second base while the baseball deflected into center field. Gomez sprung to his feet and started hustling to third base. The Diamondbacks then attempted to pick off Gomez at third when Gomez again slid head first into third base and again the ball caromed away and Gomez walked in to score the game winning run as the ball wound up in the stands.
Gomez created a major spark as the Brewers wore green, red and white uniforms to celebrate Italian Heritage day in Milwaukee. Across the front of the special Brewers uniforms read Brrai. Miller Park will play host to a three game set between the Brewers and Miami Marlins starting tonight at 7:10 PM. Former Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano will toe the rubber for Miami. Zack Greinke will start for the Brewers.
