Former Southern Door Eagle standout pitcher Erik Cordier got the call of a lifetime yesterday after his AAA Fresno Grizzlies season wrapped up. The Major League Baseball San Francisco Giants called the 2004 high school graduate up to the Big Leagues for the remainder of the season and possibly into the post season.
Cordier’s wife, former Miss Door County, Ashley Ash posted to her FaceBook account last night, “So proud of my amazing husband on this huge accomplishment – despite years of struggles, surgeries, long distance relationships with family and friends, and major sacrifices, he has finally been called to The Show! He’s a Giant!”
As Ashley detailed in her post the road has been long, but all the struggles made this first time September call-up even sweeter.
Brandon Wautier has been a long-time friend to the Cordier's and joined WRLU's Nick In The Morning to talk about the big news.

To say Cordier has paid his dues is a major understatement. He has played in the farm system for the Kansas City Royals, Atlanta Braves, Pittsburgh Pirates, and San Francisco Giants.
The Giants play at the Colorado Rockies at 7:40 PM tonight.
