Nelson Roughed Up, Brewers Lose Seventh Straight

The St. Louis Cardinals are now tied in the NL-Central with the Milwaukee Brewers after their win 10-2 Saturday.

Starting pitcher Jimmy Nelson entered Saturday as the Brewers top prospect from Triple-A Nashville. Nelson picked up the loss allowing 8 hits, 8 runs (6ER) in 4 1/3 innings pitched. He was roughed up allowing three runners in the first inning and two more in the second, one in the third and two in the fifth.

Adam Wainwright picked up his twelfth win allowing two runs in seven innings of work.

Offensively, the Brewers had six total hits. Ryan Braun had two hits leading the way and scored on run. Lyle Overbay and Khris Davis drove in the only two runs.

Every starter for the Cardinals had at least one hit in the win.

Game three of the finale is Sunday with a 1:10 first pitch. Wily Peralta gets the start and looks to keep the Brewers in the lead in the NL-Central.
