Mother Nature only got the best of one high school sporting event last night. The postponement of Sturgeon Bay and Gibraltar baseball was the lone game on the docket to be sidelined.
A soaked field could not hold "The War on the Shore" down between Algoma and Kewaunee. The Wolves won the baseball game 7-4 in less than favorable conditions.
Another cross-county rivalry played out between Southern Door and Sevastopol. The Eagles won 17-11 in a slug fest at Sevastopol Town Park. Aaron Larsen and Nolan Wagner led Southern Door at the plate with a combined seven hits and eight RBI's. Austin Rohe stayed red hot on the mound and struck out 10 Pioneer batters.
In Packerland Conference softball Sturgeon Bay brought their bats in a double header with Gibraltar. They were winners 14-8 and 22-0 in a great tune-up afternoon heading into tournament play next week.
Southern Door also got in some great batting practice with a 20-0 shutout of Sevastopol.
Finally, Algoma won a pitcher’s duel with Kewaunee 2-0. Jordan Demmin notched another victory for the Wolves in the pitcher's circle.
