After one year of coaching football at Southern Door, Dan McCarty announced his resignation of the Southern Door High School Varsity Coaching position Thursday. McCarty indicated that he is exploring a full-time coaching position at the collegiate level.
McCarty said in a statement, “I would like to thank the school for the opportunity to work with the great young men. I take great pride in the accomplishments made by the team. We have established a great work ethic, created a true team dynamic and chemistry, and set high goals and expectations.”
High School principle, Steve Bousley said, “We appreciate the time, effort and leadership, Coach McCarty provided throughout the last year. We are dedicated to continuing the long-standing football tradition we have here at Southern Door High School. We thank him for his leadership as a head coach and wish him the best as he continues to use his coaching skills to influence student athletes at the collegiate level.”
The district will be posting the Head Football Coaching position on Tuesday pending Board approval of McCarty’s resignation at the February 24, 2014 meeting.
