The Kewaunee County Promotions & Recreation Department reported the opening of all four snowmobile sections in Kewaunee County at noon Wednesday and all Door County trails were officially opened at 4:00 PM.
Door County had just one section of trails, the southwest portion, closed. Ten inches of snow Tuesday has made for near ideal conditions throughout most of the Door Peninsula.
Riders will experience a temporary trail closure near the Black Ash Swamp north of Algoma and should avoid that area.
Riders are asked to use caution as trail conditions may be less than ideal in certain areas. Plowed and open fields may lack snow cover and riders are urged to watch out for water, slush and icy patches along the trails in low lying areas. Snowmobilers are also encouraged to stay on the marked trails and respect adjoining property owners. Hundreds of gracious landowners are responsible for the County’s 290+ state-funded and club trails. Please respect their property and their privacy.
Kewaunee County's 24-hour information line provides riders with the current trail status and conditions. That number is (920) 388-7199.
