Favreless Packers Lack Late Game Heroics
By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com
November 30, 2007

The showdown between Brett Favre and Tony Romo never materialized last night because of a throwing arm injury sustained in the second quarter. The Dallas Cowboys dominated the first half of play intercepting Favre twice. The second INT turned into a 27-10 Dallas lead when Romo threw a 10 yard pass to Terrell Owens. Green Bay pulled within 10 points after backup quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw his first career touchdown pass 11 yards to Greg Jennings.
The third quarter was a fine display of what Favre’s backup is capable of. Rodgers led the Packers on a scoring drive spanning 69 yards in twelve plays. The drive was capped by a 1-yard touchdown run by Ryan Grant. The game was closed to a 27-24 disadvantage facing Green Bay.
The comeback effort was halted when Burlington, Wisconsin native, Tony Romo led his team on a game clinching drive ending in a 25-yard field goal by Nick Folk. The 37-27 final score would drop Green Bay to 10-2 and in a deep hole in the race for home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
Every Packer fan in the nation is wondering today how severe Brett Favre’s elbow injury is and will it keep him out of the game next Sunday. Favre reported that he also seperated his left shoulder on the play. The good news is that #4 has 10 days to rest the elbow before he returns to action against the Oakland Raiders in Lambeau Field on December 9.

Emotional Finish For Sturgeon Bay's Wheat
By Karen Klement DoorCountyDailyNews.com
November 28, 2007

With a heavy heart, Sturgeon Bay volleyball coach Jody Wheat had no choice but to step away from the program. After eight years with Clipper volleyball, Wheat has some health
concerns that have caused her to resign. Her health specialist threw up the red flags during this past season. Test results were coming back with alarmingly high numbers. After the season ended Wheat's health drastically improved, bringing all her counts back to normal, except one. It wasn't really a choice for Wheat, stepping down was something she had to do for health reasons. Wheat talks about some of her favorite things about coaching Clipper volleyball.
(Audio Here)
All together, Wheat has 23 years of coaching experience, 15 of them with volleyball. When asked about what qualities the next Clipper volleyball coach should have, Wheat said number one is "a love for the game." Enthusiasm and a love for learning and teaching should come first, volleyball technicalities will follow. In addition, Wheat's replacement will not just deal with the varsity squad.

When asked if Sturgeon Bay's volleyball program has changed over the last eight years, Wheat said this.

At the top of her list, Wheat says she'll miss the girls the most. She sees a great group headed for Sturgeon Bay volleyball at all levels. Wheat says she loves the competition and loves the game. Its never a good time to step away she says but for Wheat, she didn't have much of a choice in determining when her time was up. Wheat does not see herself as an assistant coach and it is not yet known who will take over the team. However, Wheat looks forward to supporting the Sturgeon Bay volleyball team from the stands.

Deer Hunters Roundup Winding Down
By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com
November 24, 2007

Last night on 104.1 FM WRLU, Deer Hunters Roundup was broadcast from 6-7 PM at the Pines II Asylum. Our guest was Gary Nault of Gary's Guide Service. We talked about buck hunting stories in Door and Kewaunee Counties and the possibility of a deer guide service in our area. Nault said it is unlikely that would ever happen because there is not enough land on the peninsula.
Nault also talked about his son Matt's buck hunting stories in Missouri. Matt landed a trophy just a few weeks ago. Nault also reminded listeners that gift certificates good for charter fishing make great stocking stuffers this Holiday season. Contact Gary's Guide Service for more information.
DHRU will continue this evening with Joanne Anschutz and Jeff Naze. We will talk about the family aspect of the hunt. Joanne will also tell you of some excellent venison recipes. Jeff Naze shot a magnum buck on the opening day of the season.
