volleyball league. Volleyball is the only organized adult team sport at the Y and registration is going on now. Youth and Family Director Ben Rikkola says this is an open co-ed volleyball league and games are on Monday nights. Rikkola says this Y volleyball league has been very popular in the past and people of all skill levels are encouraged to participate.

Packerland Conference volleyball has been over for a couple weeks, but one team is still competing. NEW Lutheran the 2007 Conference Champions play in the Division 4 state semi-finals today. They ended their 2006 season at this exact spot against Rib Lake. Last year the Blazers season ended with a three game sweep and many thought that with the strong core of seniors graduating, it would be a few years before they would be back at the state tournament.
The Blazers square off with 13-0 Burlington Catholic Central, the defending Division 4 state champions. State volleyball will be at the Resch Center in Green Bay through Saturday evening.

The Green Bay Packers were led by another brilliant Brett Favre performance on Monday Night Football. Green Bay topped Denver 19-13 in overtime at Invesco Field.
Favre connected with Greg Jennings on an 82-yard touchdown pass on the first play in overtime to clinch the victory.
In the first quarter, rookie James Jones was on the receiving end of a 79-yard touchdown pass to set the tone. Denver came into the contest with the worst run defense and that played into last night’s game heard on 104.1 FM and 105.1 FM WSBW. Ryan Grant ran for a season high 102 yards rushing.
A 98-yard drive in the second quarter showcased a perfect mix of run and pass plays. The drive ended with a 19 yard field goal run by Mason Crosby to make the score 10-7.
Green Bay would not relinquish that lead until time expired in the fourth quarter. Favre ended with 331 passing yards, no interceptions and two touchdown passes.
The Packers hold a one game lead over Detroit in the NFC North Division. The (6-1) start puts the club at a position to control their own playoff destiny. They are tied for the best record in the NFC with the Dallas Cowboys. The two teams will play in week 13 in Dallas. Next week Green Bay will play at Kansas City. The game will be broadcast on 104.1 FM and 105.1 Fm WSBW. The pre-game coverage begins at 11:00 a.m. The Packers and Chiefs kick off at noon.

Are You Ready For Some (Packer) Football?
By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com
October 29, 2007

The Green Bay Packers face the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football with a chance to increase their one game lead in the NFC North Division. Green Bay comes off the bye week with a number of players off the injured list including center Scott Wells. A rejuvenated football team is ready to prove that their (5-1) start was not a fluke. The Packers have never won in Denver, a streak that extends beyond their 0-5 regular-season record. They also are 0-5 in preseason play in the Mile High city, including a 1946 loss to the Washington Redskins. The packers make their first-ever appearance at INVESCO Field. Green Bay comes into the Monday night contest winners of nine of its last 10 games, including four straight road victories. Winners of their last three games against AFC West teams, the Packers have won six of their last eight against the division, dating back to a 1996 victory over Denver.
For the 15th straight season (1993-2007), the Packers make an appearance on Monday Night Football. In the NFL, only Monday night’s opponent, Denver (16, 1992-2007), has a longer streak. Green Bay stands in first place in the NFC North, but still has a long way to go in the race for the division crown as four division games remain. The Packers will kick off tonight at 7:30PM. You can hear this game on 104.1FM WRLU and 105.1FM WSBW.

WIAA Division 5 playoff football is on the radio today. Kewaunee and Manitowoc Roncalli will kickoff at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon on your station for Kewaunee athletics 102.1 FM WRKU. Our pre-game coverage begins at 2:05 with Paul Nimmer and Brian Dauk broadcasting in Manitowoc. Kewaunee enters the game a perfect (10-0) on the season with no signs of slowing down. The Olympian/Packerland Conference Champions scored 56 first-half points and defeated Laona/Wabeno 62-6 in a first-round game.
Manitowoc Roncalli is (7-3) overall and appears to be ill equipped to match the potent Kewaunee offense. That is not a knock on the team; it is a fact that no one has been able to go toe-to-toe with the football powerhouse. The Jets have won five of six, including a 35-32 win over Howards Grove on Tuesday. Join us today for all the action on 102.1 FM WRKU.
