Brett Favre Still Has AMAZING Arm Strength
By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com
October 24, 2007

Packers’ tight end Donald Lee will be the first to tell you his quarterback, Brett Favre, has not lost any speed on his fastball. Every day Lee and other receivers prepare to catch a ball from Favre in a much different way than they prepare to catch a ball from any other quarterback in the league.
Donald Lee has played with a number of quarterbacks since his days at Mississippi State. He said that in all of his time playing football, no one has put as much steam on a throw as Brett Favre. Lee told a great story about one of his first encounters with a Brett Favre frozen rope.
(Audio Here)
Favre did under throw two deep balls against the Washington Redskins in the last game. However, Favre said this week in a press conference, it was just a bad day.
Green Bay will travel to Denver Monday night for a nationally televised game. The Packers have never won in ten attempts in Denver. The Broncos have won five regular season games and five preseason games played in the mile high city.
You can listen to all of the game on 104.1 FM WRLU and 105.1 FM WSBW.

Algoma Falls After Nail Biter In Crivitz
By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com
October 24, 2007

In one of the greatest high school football games I have ever witnessed, the Algoma Wolves stayed with the heavily favored number two seed Crivitz Wolverines. The broadcast of the WIAA Division 6 First Round playoff game was heard on 1041. FM WRLU. The leading rusher in the state Duane Hartkopf managed 304 rushing yards and four touchdowns for Crivitz. He willed his team to a fourth quarter victory.
The game was tied 24-24 with less than three minutes remaining in the ball game when Hartkopf scored his fourth rushing touchdown from 14 yards out pushing the score to 32-24.
The Wolves took a quick lead in the first and second half. A 75-yard touchdown return off of a fumble for Craig Harmann opened the scoring for the Wolves. Sophomore back Christian Barnica finished with 137 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
If you would like to listen back to the broadcast, visit the podcast portion of doorcountydailynews.com. The game is available for you to listen to at your convenience.

Packers Sign Tight End
By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com
October 23, 2007

The Green Bay Packers signed tight end Ryan Krause from the practice squad and signed tackle Orrin Thompson and safety Tristan Burge to the practice squad yesterday. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, made the announcement.
Krause, a fourth-year player from Nebraska-Omaha, spent three seasons with San Diego. The 6-foot-3, 244-pound player was a sixth round draft pick of the Chargers in 2004 and has played in five career games.
Thompson recently cleared waivers and was signed to the club’s practice squad. Burge, a rookie from Eastern Illinois, is a 6-foot, 210-pound safety. He will wear No. 46.
Released from the practice squad was wide receiver Onrea Jones.

Koren Robinson Looks To Make Immediate Impact
By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com
October 22, 2007

Brett Favre has been one of the biggest proponents for allowing wide receiver KorenRobinson another chance to prove himself in the NFL. Packers General Manager Ted Thompson was pleased to announce last week that the league has reinstated the former Packers wide receiver. The decision was effective as of Thursday, October 18. Thompson understands and appreciates the Commissioner’s consideration in this matter. The General Manager commented that it’s been a year since we’ve seen Koren, so our first step is to have him return to Green Bay.
Favre battled through an alcohol addiction early in his career, as well. Robinson went through some similar counseling over the past 12 months and appears ready to make a come back.
The Packers will request a roster exemption, during which time the team would see where Koren is at in terms of football shape. The Packers are aware how difficult this past year has been for Koren, but are grateful for the progress he’s made, as evidenced by this reinstatement. Koren Robinson played for Green Bay for a brief period in 2006 wearing number 81. That number is still available so it is likely he will wear that jersey number after the team returns from their bye week vacation.
Green Bay plays on Monday Night Football against the Denver Broncos next week. Players return to practice on Monday to begin preparation for their AFC opponent. You can listen to all Packers games on 104.1 FM WRLU and 105.1 FM WSBW.

Kewaunee Shocked With #2 Seeding
By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com
October 20, 2007

The Kewaunee High School football team was ranked number one in the state throughout the 2007 season in the Medium Division of the Associated Press’ state high school football poll. The WIAA announced the pairings or the playoffs yesterday afternoon and Kewaunee received a number two seed.
Niagra/Goodman/Pembine was given the number one seed in the regional. While it may not seem like a major issue, it will put Kewaunee up against tougher competition earlier. Instead of playing a number four seed in the second round, Kewaunee will be matched up with a number three seed in Howards Grove.

Sturgeon Bay Football Loses Twice On Thursday
By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com
October 20, 2007

The WIAA giveth and the WIAA taketh away. Sturgeon Bay was under the impression that they would end the football season (1-6) during conference play because of a forfeit victory handed to them by Valders. On Thursday morning, the WIAA decided to overturn the forfeit decision and allow Valders to keep the victory. It was the second appeal heard by the WIAA and the Vikings' 22-6 win over Sturgeon Bay on Sept. 7 will stand, after further review. Valders used an ineligible player in the game.
The WIAA had ruled Sturgeon Bay won the contest by forfeit, and then denied Valders first appeal. That first appeal was done without the support of Sturgeon Bay representatives.
After all was said and done at the WIAA, Sturgeon Bay will end the season without a conference victory. The season will go down in the books as (0-7) in conference play and (2-7) overall.
