The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans (1-7, 1-8 overall) ended their tough season with a 41-14 loss to the Marinette Marines (4-4, 4-5 overall) at a muddy Spartan Stadium Thursday night in Bay Conference football action. The win for the Marines gives them an opportunity to make the WIAA playoffs starting Tuesday but they will need to be selected by the playoff committee since their overall record is below .500. The Marines scored a touchdown in each of the first three quarters to control the game from the beginning. The first score came on a nine yard pass from senior quarterback Cody Bezio to senior wide receiver Taylor Garceau. The next three scores came on the legs of Bezio from 1, 35 and 64 yards away. The Spartans scored their two touchdowns around the final Bezio run on two touchdown passes from senior Jason Jandrin. The first hook up was a five yarder to senior Eric Gale at the beginning of the fourth quarter. The second score came midway through the fourth when Jandrin hit senior Nick Lloyd on a 12 yard play and then hit Lloyd on the two-point conversion that made the score 28-14. Marinette finished up the scoring with a four yard scamper by junior Zach Edwards and an 85 yard interception return by Garceau. Bezio ended the evening with 165 yards on the ground on 16 carries and another 147 yards through the air going 8 of 21 and four touchdowns total. Jandrin had his biggest passing night of the year going 14 of 32 for 187 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. Despite the tough game, L-C head coach Pete Kline was pleased that the team didn't quit.

Clipper Seniors Want To Go Out On High Note
By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com
October 18, 2007

Kewaunee is on upset alert this evening when Sturgeon Bay hosts the number one team in the state on 104.1 FM WRLU and 102.1 FM WRKU. The Clippers have nothing to lose with a (1-5) record and Kewaunee will try not to peer past the Clippers and into the first
week of the playoffs. Kewaunee Coach Kurt Flaaten realizes that is a possibility. He said their coaching staff has been working extra hard to drive home the fact that Sturgeon Bay does not play like a team that has not won a game on the field. (Their lone win came after a forfeit because Valders used ineligible players.)
The Clippers seemed to get their offense back on track last week against Mishicot. They fell 21-19 but the addition of Simon Rabas in the passing game made a real difference.
Kewaunee is dominant. They have outscored opponents 3-1 (263-98) this season. The Clippers will look to contain the highflying Kewaunee squad at 7:00 p.m. Our pre-game coverage of Kewaunee and Sturgeon Bay begins at 6:30 p.m. Kewaunee football is broadcast every week on 102.1 FM WRKU. Sturgeon Bay football is heard on a weekly basis on 104.1 FM WRLU.

By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com
October 15, 2007

The Packers didn’t win a perfectly executed ball game, but Brett Favre said an ugly win still looks the same in the win loss column. Favre and the Packers offense was bailed out by a
special defensive performance.
A third quarter caused fumble led to a 57-yard return for a touchdown by Charles Woodson. The Packers took a 17-14 lead and held that score until the final horn.
Green Bay sits atop the NFC with a (5-1) record after a Dallas Cowboys last night. They will have a week to rest and recuperate with a bye week. They will return to action in two weeks against the Denver Broncos.
Sturgeon Bay alum Casey Rabach played extremely well in the first half. Leading the Redskins to a 14-7 lead. A groin pull sidelined him for the second half and Washington could not recover. Casey said after the game he was thrilled to be back home but wished for better results. His injury will keep him a day-to-day decision for the next contest. Fifty Sturgeon Bay residents made the trip to support  Rabach, according to Casey.

In his rookie season with the Baltimore Ravens, Rabach did not play and was on the inactive list. This time, Rabach enters the contest as the leader of Washington's offensive line. Green Bay Packers defensive linemen Ryan Pickett is impressed with Rabach's play.

Rookie defensive tackle Justin Harrell played for the first time in his NFL career last week against the Bears. In his film study for the Redskins, Harrell noticed Rabach plays a similar style as Packers center Scott Wells.

Two of the surprise teams in the NFC thus far, the 4-1 Packers and 3-1 Redskins, square off at historic Lambeau Field this afternoon. The Packers saw their eight-game winning streak come to an end Sunday night against Chicago in a
27-20 loss, while Washington comes off a 34-3 victory over Detroit.
