The Gibraltar Vikings ((2-4, 2-4 overall) will try to keep their playoff hopes alive
as they take on Manitowoc Roncalli tonight in Packerland/Olympian Small Conference
Football. Gibraltar is coming off a loss to Algoma 21-19 last week while Roncalli
defeated Cedar Grove 27-14 in non-conference action. The Vikings will again be without
quarterback Tom Sawyer who is still leading the conference in rushing. Sam Ausloos will quarterback Gibraltar full-time and is coming off a strong three touchdown passing performance. Roncalli (3-2, 4-2 overall) relies on a strong defense that has allowed only 90 points this year.
You can hear the game on 105.1FM WSBW with the pre-game show starting at 6:45pm.

L-C Faces Another Tough Opponent In West De Pere
By Mike Kollmansberger DoorCountyDailyNews.com
October 5, 2007

Luxemburg-Casco (1-4, 1-5 overall) will return home Friday night to face another Bay Conference front runner as the West De Pere Phantoms (4-1, 5-1 overall) descend on Spartan Stadium. The kickoff is 7p.m. with the pre game show starting at 6:45p.m. on 96.7FM WBDK. The Phantoms are one game back of Denmark in the conference standings and a half game behind New London. West De Pere beat New London in the first game of the season 29-27 in overtime and lost to Denmark 26-20 in week three. The Phantoms have since won three straight, beating Nekoosa, Oconto Falls and Marinette during that stretch. Senior quarterback Garrett Scray is coming off a big game where he went 15 of 26 for 166 yards and three touchdowns. The Spartans on the flip side have lost three games in a row but with the exception of the New London loss, have been in the other two games. L-C head coach Pete Kline continues to let his team know that penalties and turnovers need to be cleaned up and if they do that, this team can win some ball games yet this year.
(Audio Here)
After the two quick scores by Denmark last week, the Spartans played head to head with the Vikings the rest of the contest. L-C will have to make sure that doesn't happen this week against a team that once again has big play potential. The entire pre game interview with Coach Kline can be heard during the pre game show Friday night at 6:45 p.m. on 96.7FM WBDK.

Packers Make Roster Move
By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com
October 4, 2007

The Nw York Jets claimed 2007 draft pick David Clowney off Green Bay's practice squad yesterday. The wide receiver out of Virginia Tech showed incredible speed during training camp but could never translate that to playing time on the field. He was a preseaon hopeful to return punts and kicks. When Will Blackmon showed he could handle the duty, Clowney descended down the list as potential active players on the 53 man roster.
To counter the move, the Packers signed tight end James Adkisson to the practice squad. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, made the announcement.
A second-year player from South Carolina, Adkisson played in two games for the Oakland Raiders in 2006. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound tight end spent the 2005 season on the Raiders’ practice squad before he was signed to the active roster for the final regular season game.
A wide receiver in college, Adkisson spent time on the Raiders’ practice squad in 2004 and played for the Cologne Centurions in NFL Europe that same year. He will wear No. 49.

Favre Will Be Back For More
By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com
October 4, 2007

Brett Favre cemented his spot in the greatest player of all time category last week after he threw his record-breaking touchdown pass to Greg Jennings with 4:56 left to play in the first quarter. The statistics give Favre an edge over all of the greats including Marino, Elway and Montana.
The reason Favre is the greatest is the way he plays the game. His touchdown celebration included a fireman’s carry of Jennings. Much like he has done to Donald Driver over the past two seasons. He celebrated number 421 just as he did his first, with excitement and pure love for the game.
Green Bay fans may not realize how lucky they are. We are watching the greatest show in professional sports. Tiger Woods is the world's greatest
golfer without question. However, he doesn’t hold a candle to Favre's enthusiasm on the playing field.
Passing Marino was inevitable and it appears that Payton Manning passing Favre will be much the same. Barring injury, Manning will reach Favre's record in three less years than what it took the Packers' leader. The Colts quarterback is also charging at Favre's consecutive start record.
Brett is not done though. In my opinion, there is no way he walks away after this season.
The Packers are playoff bound. To say they will be hoisting the Lombardi Trophy is a real stretch, but the playoffs is a major consolation prize for a team with no running game of which to speak.
Number four will be back for a number of reasons.
1) The talent level of the young players on this team.
2) Green Bay's defense takes A LOT of pressure off the quarterback.
3) He still loves to play this game.
4) He is still competing at the highest level.
5) At the age of 38, he will be talked about as an MVP candidate at the end of this season if he stays on this pace.
6) He believes another Super Bowl run is possible if the team would provide him with a solid running game.
7) Records mean very little to Brett, but by starting 28 more games, he would break the all-time consecutive start record held by former Minnesota
defensive end Jim Marshall.
8) He needs just 2,656 passing yards to break Dan Marino's all time yardage record. That is an average of 241 yards per game for the rest of the 2007 season.
9) WHY QUIT WHEN YOU'RE HAVING SO MUCH FUN AND MAKING MILLIONS EVERY YEAR!
In my opinion Brett Favre will be back for at least one more season in 2008.

In Favre We Trust
By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com
October 1, 2007

The Packers are (4-0) after a 23-16 win in the Metrodome yesterday. Brett Favre threw touchdown pass number 421 in the first quarter to break Dan Marino's record for career TD's. Greg Jennings was on the receiving end of a quick slant that broke the NFL record. Favre celebrated with teammates and family for a moment but immediately returned to the bench to finish what he started.
The Vikings and Bears both lost yesterday so the NFC North Division appears to be somewhat upside down in comparison to what many prognosticators said at the beginning of the season. The Lions are in second place in the division with a (3-1) record.
The Packers will host Chicago next Sunday night. You can catch all the action on the radio stations of DoorCountyDailyNews.com's 104.1 FM WRLU and 105.1 FM WSBW.

(When) Will He Do It?
By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com
September 30, 2007

The Green Bay Packers intend to return from the Metro Dome this weekend with a (4-0) record. Brett Favre also intends to return to Green Bay with the all-time NFL touchdown record. He needs one touchdown throw to surpass Dan Marion's previous mark of 420.
The Vikings have revenge on their minds after being swept in the two game series in 2006. Packers’ players hate playing in Minnesota. Green Bay tight end Donald Lee said without a doubt, The Metrodome is his least favorite place to play.

Defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins was animated in his response
to his least favorite place to play. He commented that there isn’t a single thing he likes
 about playing in Minnesota.

Defensive tackle Ryan Pickett said Minnesota's field turf coupled with the unfriendly environment makes the trip an undesirable one.

Minnesota will host Green Bay today. You can listen to all of the hard-hitting action on 104.1 FM WRLU and 105.1 FM WSBW.
