By Paul Schmitt DoorCountyDailyNews.com September 22, 2007 In Packerland Conference Small Division Football the Gibraltar Vikings defeated the Sevastopol Pioneers 46-6 at Institute. Converting on a blocked punt by Sam Forkert and an interception by Nick Weborg in the first half, Gibraltar scored early and often. Tom Sawyer lead the way with two touchdown runs offensively and Gibraltar's blitzing defense stymied Sevastopol most the night. The Pioneers did score for the first time this year on
an 80 yard run by Neal Wagner in
the third quarter. Both schools will celebrate homecoming this
next week as
Sevastopol (0-5) will host
Manitowoc Lutheran while Gibraltar (2-3) will be home to Algoma

Luxemburg-Casco
Lets Homecoming Game Slip Away By Mike Kollmansberger DoorCountyDailyNews.com September 22, 2007
A 50 yard touchdown pass from
Seymour sophomore quarterback Alex Court to Devin Gray with :36
left in the 4th quarter was the difference as the Thunder beat
the Luxemburg-Casco Spartans 21-14 in front of a homecoming
crowd at Spartan Stadium. The Thunder (3-2,3-2 overall) has now
won three in a row in the Bay Conference after dropping their
first two. The Spartans (1-3, 1-4 overall) on the other
hand have dropped two in a row and are in serious jeopardy of
not qualifying for the post season this year. L-C senior
quarterback Jason Jandrin accounted for both scores, each coming
on the ground, and gave the Spartans a 14-7 lead early in the
4th. The lead would hold until about halfway through the 4th
when Gray scampered into the end zone to tie things at 14. Both
teams made some late stops and it looked like the game would
reach overtime until the big 50 yard pass play ended those
hopes. Nick Lloyd led the ground attack for the Spartans with 73
yards on 17 carries. Ryan Zellner added 15 carries for 59
yards. Devin Gray led the Thunder with 89 yards on just 8
attempts. Alex Court was 5 out of 10 for 141 yards. The
Spartans hit the road next week as they travel to a familiar foe
at Denmark. The broadcast begins at 6:45 Friday night on 96.7
WBDK.

Luxemburg-Casco Hosts Seymour For Homecoming Game By Mike Kollmansberger DoorCountyDailyNews.com September 21, 2007 Luxemburg-Casco (1-2, 1-3 overall) will try to use the energy and excitement of homecoming week to get back in the win column as they host the Seymour Thunder (2-2, 2-2 overall) in Bay Conference action Friday night at 6:45p.m. on 96.7FM WBDK. Seymour comes in with a two game win streak, beating Marinette 41-18 last week and Oconto Falls two weeks ago 34-20. The Thunder have rebounded after a big loss to West DePere in week two 41-20 and a tough 24-20 loss to Denmark in the season opener. Those two teams currently have a combined record of 6-2, so Seymour head coach Matt Molle knew his young team would have a tough time early. (Audio Here) The Spartans on the other hand suffered what looked like their worst loss of the season at New London last week 33-7. They were dominated on both sides of the ball, the first time that has happened this season. L-C was also coming off their first victory of the season and were hoping to keep that momentum going into New London. With homecoming week wrapping up, school spirit and excitement should be at a high this week giving the team an added boost. With the festivities, however, comes the possibility of the focus on the game preparation being lost. Spartan head coach Pete Kline is confident his team will be ready on Friday night. (Audio Here) You can hear both coaches interviews on the pregame show Friday night from Luxemburg-Casco High School at 6:45p.m. on 96.7FM WBDK. |

Nick Greisen Lands
With Baltimore Ravens By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com September 20, 2007 Sturgeon Bay alum Nick Greisen landed on an NFL roster this week after being cut by the Jacksonville Jaguars following the final pre-season game. The Tennessee Titans, Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens worked Greisen out over the past two weeks. The Ravens finally decided to pull the trigger this week and add Nick to the active roster. ![]() Nick was told that he will likely be active for the game Sunday against Arizona. The Sturgeon Bay alum will be given the opportunity to back up one of the all time greatest linebackers in Ray Lewis. Nick will need to earn playing time on defense but will make an immediate impact on special teams. For nearly a month, Greisen was out of a job. He said it was an emotionally taxing few weeks, but realized there was a plan for him. I asked Greisen if he ever thought that his NFL career was over. (Audio Here) Nick Greisen's cousin and NFL center with the Washington Redskins Casey Rabach spent four years playing for Baltimore. Sturgeon Bay football coach Gary Rabach said it is likely the
two will talk this week about what to expect with the Ravens
organization. The newest member of the Baltimore Ravens takes a spot that opened up with Tuesday's release of Dennis Haley. The organization said Greisen is a proven veteran that has seen time in 70 NFL games with 31 starts. Their website described Nick as a versatile defender that can play all three linebacker positions. Greisen has totaled 237 tackles and 4 sacks during his six-year career. Greisen started 10 of 16 games for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2006, where he produced career-best numbers with 82 tackles, 1 fumble recovery and 1 interception. Originally drafted in the fifth round of the 2002 draft by the New York Giants, where he spent four seasons, Greisen saw action in 54 contests with New York, starting 21. Baltimore team officials said yesterday that the roster move adds depth to an inside
linebacking corps, initially backing up Ray Lewis and Bart Scott.
Greisen has also seen action on special teams, where his biggest
campaign came in 2003 with 15 special teams stops.Greisen said his current living situation is rather interesting at this time. (Audio Here) Baltimore will host Arizona Sunday.
