Ryan Grant
Cherishing Opportunity To Play For Packers By Nick Freimuth DoorCountyDailyNews.com January 18, 2008 The road to the NFC Championship for Green Bay Packers running back Ryan Grant has been complicated to say the least. A Notre Dame graduate that was once suspended from the football team for academic ineligibility, Grant was not drafted after his senior season. The New York Giants picked Grant up as an un-drafted free agent and kept him on the practice squad. The Packers noticed Grant's raw talent and work ethic and made a trade for the fourth string back. The Giants had a stable of running backs, and in all likelihood, Grant would not have seen the field as a feature back in New York. The Packers leading rusher said he is excited to face his old team on Sunday. (Audio Here) Grant finished the season with 956 rushing yards and a 5.1 yard per rush average. The addition of a running game is the most noticeable reason Green Bay's offense has continually gotten better this season. The Giants will have to game plan for a team averaging well above the league average in passing, scoring and overall yards. Ryan Grant said that regardless of the opponent he is pumped to be in the NFC Championship. (Audio Here) The young running back could be the key component on Sunday with winter weather expected again this week. Grant and the Pack will kick it off against the Giants at 5:30 p.m. Sunday. You can listen to all of the action on 104.1 FM WRLU and 105.1 FM WSBW. |
