Snow Banks Can Block Visibility

Areas of Northeast Wisconsin have seen record amounts of snow fall in the past month and Sturgeon Bay Police Chief Dan Trelka says this makes things tough on all motorists. Most recently, Trelka has noticed that snow banks are piling higher and higher, making it difficult for motorists to see.

Nick Greisen Is Just Living The Dream

It has been the most amazing week Nick Greisen could have imagined. The Baltimore Ravens middle linebacker and his wife Carolyn welcomed their first child into the world at 11:08 Saturday night in Maryland. It was hours before the Sturgeon Bay graduate had to be back on the field in a playoff game against the Dolphins in Miami.

New Notification System In Kewaunee County

We have thirteen sirens in the county, but most of those sirens reside around the nuclear power plant.  We need to have a system that we could send out alert notifications to all of the people who reside in the county.  That system is called “Code Red”.
 Code Red delivers up to 1000 calls per minute.  There is no hardware involved for the general public nor is there a cost to you.  Everything is web based, so officials can launch calls from anywhere in the world.

Snowmobile Safety

With snowmobile trails now open in Door County, trails coordinator George Pinney says everyone needs to use caution when riding. A non-life threatening accident a couple weeks ago resulted in a broken bone, bumps, bruises and some shaken up teenagers. Pinney says from what he understands, the accident occurred in the Brussels area and the incident is a perfect example of why all riders must be educated and cautious when snowmobiling.

LWV Looks To Collaborate With Sustain Door & DPO

The Door County League of Women Voters will talk about how to collaborate with Door Property Owners and Sustain Door at their next roundtable meeting on Friday. League President Susan Kohout says the group recently talked about how to better work together with other organizations.

Kewaunee Girl's Upset Southern Door

In Packerland Conference girls basketball Tuesday night it was Southern Door over Kewaunee by the score of 32 to19.  Southern Door now takes over sole position of second place in the Packerland with a 5-1 record and Kewaunee falls to 4-2 in conference play.
 
Leading the way for the Indians was Nicole Geier with 10 points and Chelsea Selner added 4 points and 9 rebounds.

Spartans Still Love Packerland Conference Games

Last night on 104.1 FM WRLU, the Luxemburg-Casco Spartans out ran Sturgeon Bay in non-conference boy's basketball. The Spartans outhustled the Clippers and won the turnover battle in a 68-51 win in Luxemburg. Travis Tlachac was deadly from behind the arc. He finished with 15, Josh D. VandenBush scored 11 and Derek VandenPlas added 10 in the win.
