Editorial Comment - Rowing Regatta Success Earns Bruce Tully City Citizenship

Bruce Tully, founder of the Sturgeon Bay Rowing Club and organizer of the recent rowing regatta, has earned his Sturgeon Bay citizenship.

Last weekend’s regatta brought hundreds of rowers to Sturgeon Bay. The United States Rowing Association sanctioned the event and Tully is optimistic the regatta will return. Silent sports like rowing are a welcome addition to Door County and under Tully’s leadership the regatta will prove to be a great spectator event as well.

The many volunteers who made a great impression on the U.S. Rowing Association as well as the cooperating property owners along Sturgeon Bay’s Memorial Drive deserve our thanks. The people of Sturgeon Bay rolled out a large welcome mat to what will be a growing number of visitors in the future.

Bruce Tully proved by his imagination, vision and effort that he is a valuable member of our community.

That’s my opinion. I’d like to hear yours. I’m Roger Utnehmer.
