The Door County League of Women Voters will talk about how to collaborate with Door Property Owners and Sustain Door at their next roundtable meeting on Friday. League President Susan Kohout says the group recently talked about how to better work together with other organizations.

Property Owners Could Be Charged For Violations

Property owners might be charged a fee for littering and other violations if the Sturgeon Bay Common Council follows through with the Chronic Nuisance Ordinance. This is a second reading on the ordinance and council member Ben Meyer says a fee could be charged if the violation occurs three times in one year.

DCEDC Northern Door Office Hours

The Door County Economic Development Corporation (DCEDC) reminds new or existing business owners that the organization now offers monthly office hours in Northern Door County, providing business counseling and entrepreneurial services. The second Wednesday of each month, DCEDC Economic Development Manager Sam Perlman will offer free, one-on-one business counseling sessions, providing advice on business planning, financing, business incentives and other issues.

Contest In Sturgeon Bay For Council Seat

There are four Sturgeon Bay City Council seats up for election this April and a number of people have filed papers. City Clerk Stephanie Reinhardt says these seats have a two-year term and if elected those council members would take office at the second meeting in April.

School Board Seats

The filing deadline is quickly approaching and a number of people have filed Declarations of Candidacy to run for school board member. There are nine board members at Sturgeon Bay Schools who serve a three-year term. Superintendent Joe Stutting says three of those seats are up for election. Incumbents Keith Miller, Tina Jennerjohn and Lori Raye have all filed papers to run again.

Give Blood, Save Lives

Miss Door County Kimberly Sawyer says you can "Give Blood, (and) Save Lives" tonight. Promoting her platform, Sawyer will be at St. Peters Church today, encouraging people to donate blood. Sawyer says the high school blood drives are pretty much done for year and with no regular blood donation clinics in Door County, the St. Peters blood drive is very important.

Fuller Readies For Senior Season At St. Norberts

Cory Fuller, Sevastopol graduate and current starting third baseman for St. Norbert’s College baseball, was the guest on Monday night’s Sports Page at the C & C Supper Club in Fish Creek.   Fuller is looking forward to his senior campaign as the Green Knights start practice February 1 before a spring break trip to central Florida in mid March.

Varsity Boy's Basketball

The Algoma boy’s basketball team was on the road last night and came out on top 58-56 against Reedsville.Jesse Kroll put the game away with a slam-dunk with less than 30 seconds left and gave Algoma a five-point lead. The win pushes the Wolves to (5-3) on the season. Josh Savoie led all scorers with 14 points.

   Denmark had their way with Southern Door 50-28 last night in the Town of Gardner. Alex Tassoul led the Eagles in scoring with eight points.

Six Packers Coaches Released

The Green Bay Packers have released six assistant coaches, Head Coach Mike McCarthy announced Monday morning. Those released are Defensive Coordinator Bob Sanders, Defensive Ends Coach Carl Hairston, Defensive Tackles Coach Robert Nunn, Secondary Coach Kurt Schottenheimer, Defensive Nickel Package/Cornerbacks Coach Lionel Washington and Strength & Conditioning Coordinator Rock Gullickson.
