Cecelia Frances Delchambre

Cecelia Frances Delchambre, 91, of Highway 57 Sturgeon Bay, WI, passed away early Monday morning, March 25, 2013, at Cardinal Ridge CBRF surrounded by her loving family.

She was born September 11, 1921, in West Jacksonport, WI, to John and Katherine (Mueller) Zelhofer. At the age of five the family moved to Sevastopol, where she has resided since. Cecelia was united in marriage to Joseph Delchambre at S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Institute on June 18, 1941. He preceded her in death on December 18, 1977.

Cecelia spent 21 years working as a cook-manager for Sevastopol School Food Service until her retirement in 1987. During her retirement she spent many hours making hundreds of quilts for Brother Regis Mission Warehouse in New Holstein, WI. Cecelia enjoyed gardening, raising strawberries and raspberries for her many local and out of town friends and customers. She also liked tending to her vast flower garden. In her spare time, Cecelia also enjoyed cooking and reading.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Country Circle Friendship Club, and the Retired Persons Activity Club. Cecelia also volunteered her time with Neighbor to Neighbor.

Cecelia will be dearly missed by her four daughters, Mary Kay (Stan) Junk of Manitowoc, WI, Doris (Rodney) Ash of Sturgeon Bay, Carol (Robert) Kurtz of Sturgeon Bay, Sharon (Robert) Haen of Sturgeon Bay; three sisters, Marian (Russell) May of Stevens Point, WI, Germaine (Ernie) Hickson of Redding, CA, Roberta Zelhofer of New Berlin, WI; ten grandchildren, Kay Lynn (James) Larson of Manitowoc, Christopher (Jillian) Junk of Arden DE, Robert (Christine) Ash of Newton, WI, Mark (Ann) Ash of Cumming, GA, James (Tracey) Ash of Oconto Falls, WI, Jennifer (David) Kacmarynski, Fairborn, OH, Gregory (Kerri) Kurtz of Buffalo Grove, IL, Katherine (Sam) Roberts of Bonduel, WI, Sarah (James) Wiitala of Suamico, WI, Robert (Lindsay) Haen of Pulaski, WI; 29 great-grandchildren, The Larson’s (Karah, Krysta, Joseph), The Junk’s (Eva, Noa, Lev), The Ash’s (Brandon (Ashley), Jennifer (Eric) Wetenkamp, Amanda, Nicole, Allison, Nicolas, Sophia, Brett, Bryce, Cameron, Taylor), The Kacmarynski’s (Caden, Ella, Reid), The Kurtz’s (Ethan, Mikayla, Trenton), The Roberts’ (Samuel, Isabella, Emmit), The Wiitala’s (James, Grace), Zooey Haen; one great-great-grandson, Vincent Wetenkamp, two sisters-in-law, Lucille Zelhofer of Sturgeon Bay, and Geraldine Zelhofer of Stevens Point.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Joseph; two brothers, Willard and John; one sister, Katherine Bosman; and one grandson, Michael Ash.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11: 30 a.m., Thursday, March 28, 2013, at S.S. Peter & Paul in Institute with Rev. Robert Konkol OFM as celebrant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at the church on Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:30 a.m. The Rosary will be prayed at 9:15 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Unity Hospice or St. John Bosco Catholic School.
