Raymond Lynn Weldon, Jr. passed away at home on Monday, March 18, 2013, at the age of 81. Raymond was born June 15, 1931, in Little Sturgeon to Raymond & Myrtle (Krause) Weldon. He served in the military as a marine in the 3rd Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division from 1951 to 1953. Raymond married Joanne Rass on July 22, 1953, at St. Francis Church in Brussels, WI.
He worked at the Red Owl Warehouse for 35 years and retired in July of 1988. His passion was flying airplanes and was licensed to fly in 1960 by George Merridith during which time he owned a Cessna 172; through the years and into retirement he went on to build two other airplanes and a J2 gyro copter.
Raymond Lynn Weldon is survived by his wife Joanne; 4 children, Peggy Weldon, Joey (Mary) Weldon, Mark Weldon, Jyll Weldon (and special friend David Corbisier), all of Sturgeon Bay; 5 grandchildren, Stacey Vogel, Casey Weldon, Nick Weldon, Adam Weldon and Trevor Weldon-Kay; 4 great-grandchildren, Brycen, Makia, Trent and Jacob; sister-in-law, Arlene (Richard) Stockwell; and nieces and nephews.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Myrtle Weldon, brother, Dale Weldon, sister, Lucille (Joe) Goetz, in-laws, Joseph and Mina Rass and niece, Pamela Stockwell.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 23 at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay and 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis and St. Mary Parish in Brussels.
