Kim Hays, 58, of Sturgeon Bay, WI, passed away Thursday afternoon, February 14, 2013, with family at her side.
She was born November 15, 1954, to Ross and Constance Massey in Lima, OH, later to assume the name Kim Sprague when her mother remarried. Kim graduated with Honors from Lima Senior High in 1972, continuing her education at Ohio University.
On December 8, 1983, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Hays at her parents’ family home in Hudson, FL. Kim and Ken began married life together in Dunedin, FL, relocating to Sturgeon Bay, WI, in September of 1985.
Kim enjoyed participating in her community, working as Alderwoman for the city of Sturgeon Bay and volunteering at the Sturgeon Bay schools.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Ken Hays of Sturgeon Bay; her son, Thomas Hays of Milwaukee; her two dogs, Weber and Casey; and many other friends.
Kim was preceded in death by her father, Ross; her two dogs, Moxie and Biff; and her cat, Boo.
A memorial service honoring and celebrating Kim’s life will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 18, 2013, at Hope United Church of Christ in Sturgeon Bay with Rev. Richard Feyen officiating. Friends may call at the church from 5:30 p.m. until the time of service.
Memorials may be given in her name to the Door County Humane Society or to the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary in Green Bay WI. Kim’s family has also asked that friends plant trees this year to honor her love of the outdoors.
