George LaRoche III, 51, of Sturgeon Bay, WI, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon (February 10, 2013) at home with family at his side.
He was born March 20, 1961, in Madison, WI, the son of Sandra (Dayton) Auck and George E. LaRoche Jr. He first came to Sturgeon Bay in 1979, when he met and married, Christine Walker, the mother of his children. They lived near Portage, WI, until making Sturgeon Bay his permanent home in 1994.
During his life, George worked at campgrounds, in the road construction business, and also in building construction as a roofing specialist. He had worked for Portside Builders in Sturgeon Bay. In recent years, George also drove truck for Zernicke Trucking out of Bonduel, WI.
He liked the outdoors, especially going hunting and fishing on Lake Michigan, and snowmobiling. George enjoyed watching Nascar and Packer football games.
Survivors include his two children, Brian (Amanda) LaRoche of Sturgeon Bay, and Amber LaRoche (special friend, Sam Schmelzer) of Brussels, WI; and their mother, Chris Walker of Sturgeon Bay; three grandchildren, Preston, Braylon, Colton LaRoche; his very special friend, Julia Zakula of Sturgeon Bay; father, George LaRoche Jr. of Oxford, WI; six brothers and sisters, Mary (Brent) Varner of Lodi, WI, Rose (George) Kingsland of Pardeeville, WI, Joe (Kathy) LaRoche of Poynette, WI, Duane (Shawn) LaRoche of Sauk City, WI, Dee (John) Burkjalter of Tomah, WI, Bill LaRoche of Vancouver, WA; nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; cousins; and his four legged buddy, Radar.
A celebration of George’s life will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, February 16, 2013, at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with Rev. Jerry Groth officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the LaRoche family.
