Andrew 'Jack' Andropolis

Andrew "Jack" John Andropolis, 80, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at his home with his loving family at his side.

He was born on July 12, 1932 in Sheboygan the son of Jacob Andrew and Hazel (Lallemont) Andropolis. After graduating from Central High School in Sheboygan in 1951, he graduated from UW-Oshkosh where he received a liberal arts degree and an Art Education degree. Jack served his country in the United States Army from 1953-1955 during the Korean War. Jack taught for his first year in 25 one-room, rural school houses, and the following year started his ten year career as a high school art teacher at Southern Door High School.

On March 18, 1960 he married Annette Jane Matthias in Oshkosh. Together they owned and operated the Andropolis Waterfront Cottages and the Andropolis Restaurant.

In his free time, Jack enjoyed working with and creating in various art mediums. He was a long time member of the American Legion.

Jack will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Annette; his four children, Jacob (Susan) Andropolis of Appleton, Perry (Tracy) Andropolis of Sturgeon Bay, Andre’ Andropolis of Milwaukee and Tobias (Jody) Andropolis of Appleton; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emily, Tiviana, Elliessa, Mackenzie, Madison and Harrison; one sister, Joan Andropolis of Milwaukee; in-laws, Eileen (John) Kapust of Olympia, WA, Dean (Lilly) Matthias of Two Rivers, Jon (Ann) Matthias of Manitowoc, Marilyn Matthias of Omaha, NE, Marilynne "Lynne" Matthias (Kevin Bacon) of Sturgeon Bay, Joseph (Carol) Matthias of Manitowoc, Patricia (Ken) Meier of Irving , TX, and Daniel Matthias of Manitowoc.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and in-laws, James and Dennis Matthias.

At Jack's request, private family services will be held at Huehns Funeral Home, with a public memorial service planned for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jack's memory for The Boys and Girls Club of Door County, or to Unity Hospice.
