Clifford E. Knaup, 85, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on Jan. 17, 2013, at GoldenLivingCenter – Dorchester. He was born on Jan. 2, 1928, in Iola, WI, to George and Edith (Norby) Knaup. Cliff served his country in the U.S. Navy. He worked most of his life as a lineman for Wisconsin Public Service, retiring in 1990. On June 25, 1949 he married Harriet Jarvis in Rhinelander. She preceded him in death on July 25, 2012.
Cliff was a member of the American Legion Post #72 of Sturgeon Bay. He was an avid bowler and woodworker. Cliff enjoyed working out in the woods, cutting firewood, and playing with his Caterpillar.
Survivors five children, Curt (Laura) Knaup, Amherst, VA; Thomas (Malia) Knaup, Sturgeon Bay; Carol (Roger) Gumtow, Reedsville; Bruce (Jill) Knaup, Sturgeon Bay; Tim (Kim) Knaup, Sun Prairie; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eleanor Rowell. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, a sister, Nora, a brother, George, in-laws, Ida Knaup and Glen Rowell.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Darrick Kolterjahn officiating. Burial will be in Bayside Cemetery. Friends may call at the Forbes Funeral Home on Sunday from 4-6:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. A devotion will be conducted at 5:45 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
