Clayton Moegenburg, 80, died peacefully at his home on January 13, with his family by his side, following a lengthy illness.
Clayton was born May 07, 1932 in Egg Harbor to Martin and Celestia (LeMere) Moegenburg. He graduated from Gibraltar High school in 1950. Clayton married Patricia (Heald) in 1953. Clayton was an avid sports enthusiast playing in the Door County Baseball League in his youth and golfing throughout his life. He was known for his abilities both on the baseball field and on the golf course and was a hunting enthusiast since childhood. Clayton and Gene Weiss owned a filling station for 15 years. During those years he was an active member of The Baileys Harbor Lions Club and was president of the Chamber of Commerce. Clayton & his wife operated a cherry and apple orchard for many years. He worked at the shipyards in Sturgeon Bay on and off until his retirement. He spent the remainder of his days nurturing his land, improving his golf swing, enjoying time with his friends but most importantly being with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; sons Scott (Pam Butler) and Jay (Kay); Grandchildren, Jeremy (Jeanna), Amanda, Kyle, Sara, and Mitchell and one Great Grandchild, Sophia Moegenburg.
Visitation service will be held at Stella Maris St. Mary of the Lake in Baileys Harbor, on Thursday, January 17 at 10:00 A.M. followed by funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. with a luncheon to follow.
