Carl F. Urban, 88, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Monday, December 17, 2012 at Ministry-Door County Medical Center.
He was born January 29, 1924, in Jacksonport, to Charles and Selma (Walther) Urban. Carl grew up helping on the family farm. He was united in marriage to Irene Weber at S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Institute on October 28, 1944. Carl owned and operated his own business as a contract motor carrier for Lake to Lake Dairy for 35 years, serving both Northern and Southern Door County.
Carl was a member of S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. In past years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son-in-law and grandsons. More recently, he liked working in the yard, both at home and at his church.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Irene of Institute; daughter, Carol Anschutz of Shawano, WI; two grandsons, Steven (Jennifer) Anschutz of Pewaukee, WI, and Brian Anschutz of Shawano; two great-grandchildren, Maxwell Anschutz of Eau Claire, WI, and Allison Anschutz of Pewaukee; nieces, Barb (Mike) Madden of Sturgeon Bay, Dorothy Ash of Sturgeon Bay, and Marlene (Rufus) Sibilsky of Algoma, WI; and many other relatives and friends.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jason Anschutz; son-in-law, Merlin Anschutz; brother and sister-in-law, George (Dorothy) Urban, sister and brother-in-law, Matilda (Henry) Felhofer, sister and brother-in-law, Caroline (Robert) Schoenbrunn; and nephew, Russel Felhofer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on December 20, 2012 at S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Institute with Rev. Robert Konkol O.F.M. as celebrant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday (December 19, 2012) and on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. There will be a parish wake service at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
