Earl H. Kane

Earl Henry Kane, 95, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on December 26, 2012, at Golden Living Center-Dorchester. He was born on April 25, 1917, in Diamond Lake, IL to Earl and Luella (Mitchell) Kane. On September 19, 1981, he married Gail Haugland-McCraren in Lincolnshire, IL.

For many years Earl worked as a transportation director for Ritzenthaler Bus Lines in Mundelein, IL. He later went to work for Ace Hardware in Mundelein, as the assistant store manager and retired to Door County in 1988. Earl was a volunteer fireman for the Countryside Fire Department in Mundelein, a life member of the Lake County Fair Association and a member of the Farm Heritage Club of Lake County, IL. He was also a longtime member of the Door Drifters Snowmobile Club and the Sturgeon Bay Men’s Club.

Survivors include his wife, Gail; three children, Donna (Ray) Gadddis, Gloucester, VA; Barbara (David) Wrench, Tucson, AZ; Kenny Kane, Bristol, WI; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey (Donna), Rodney, Gordon, Tina (Bernie), Heath (Katie), Emily (Dave), and Keith (Melissa); nineteen great-grandchildren; three step-children, Scott McCraren, Gurnee, IL; Jill (Randy) Brown, Newport News, VA; Wendy (David) Martinson, Suamico, WI; four step-grandchildren, Justin, Haylee, Khris, and Jessica; three brothers, Mitchell Kane, Mt. Vernon, IL; Roland Kane, Live Oak, FL; and Melvin (Betty) Kane, Ruffin, SC. Earl was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Grace; two sisters, Ruby Bauer and Sarah Kane.

Memorial services will be held this spring. Memorials may be directed to Unity Hospice or Golden Living Center – Dorchester, Sturgeon Bay. The Forbes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements (www.forbesfuneralhome.com).
