Joyce Johanna Frando, 82, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away Monday, November 26, 2012 at the Golden Living Center – Dorchester.
She was born on May 24, 1930 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Roy Adolph and Lucile (Callows) Jorns. She was a 1950 graduate of Sturgeon Bay High School. On June 24, 1950 she married Raphael Emil Frando at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Raphael and Joyce moved to New Berlin in 1951. Raphael preceded her in death on November 27, 1985. In 1990 Joyce returned to Sturgeon Bay.
Joyce had a very loving and compassionate heart and was a foster parent for more than 25 years, caring for more than 125 children throughout the years.
Joyce was a life member of the Amvets Ladies Auxiliary, and was a past state president for the Auxiliary. In her free time she enjoyed painting, crocheting, making jewelry, and traveling throughout the United States.
She is survived by her son, David Frando of Sturgeon Bay; more than 125 foster children including, Tony Quinn of Sturgeon Bay (and his children, Antoinette Marie, Alex Gerard, and Andrew Joseph Quinn) and Virginia Steffes Riviera of England (and her children); two sisters, Adrian (Bruce) Oram of Sturgeon Bay and Jacqueline Stiehl of California; two sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Wortman Smith of Trevor, WI and Georgia Nye of Kenosha, WI; brothers, Tom (Sandee) Jorns of Sturgeon Bay; three cousins, Quinton (Ann) Valdes of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Kenneth (Joanne) Valdes of Brookfield, WI, and Terry Jorns of Sturgeon Bay.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and one sister, Sandra Seiler.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Huehns Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. There will be an Amvets Auxiliary service held at 10:30 a.m. Memorials may be given for unwed mothers charities.
