Frances A. Ranson, 86 years, of Sturgeon Bay, went home to Heaven on Sunday (November 25, 2012) at the Skilled Nursing Facility of Ministry-Door County Medical Center. “Frannie” has now found peace with Jesus after a courageous battle with Parkinsons.
She was born August 18, 1926 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI the daughter of the late Clifford and Frances (Agar) LaLonde. After graduating from high school in Winona, MN she went on to study nursing at St. Frances School of Nursing in La Crosse, WI. Frances worked in Santa Barbara, CA where she met and married Louis Ranson in 1951. After relocating in Sturgeon Bay, she worked for Dr. Grota until she took a position with the Dorchester Hospital. When the new hospital was built she was first involved in the emergency department and later moved to the OB department where she was head nurse.
In Sturgeon Bay, Frances had been a member of both St. Joseph and Corpus Christi Catholic Churches. Over the years, she volunteered to serve at many funeral lunches for the St. Joseph Christian Mothers. It was important to Frances to take good care of her family and the home. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and traveling, twice to the holy land.
She will be dearly missed by her two sons, Mark (Katherine Sorensen) Ranson of Seattle, WA, John (Chris) Ranson of Milwaukee, WI; three grandchildren, Michael (Jackie) Ranson (and their children, Makenna and Lyla), Daniel Ranson, Kate (Patrick) Abbe (and their children, Liam and Everett); sister, Anita Meyer of Santa Cruz, CA; and many other dear friends.
Frances was welcomed Home by her parents, Clifford and Frances LaLonde; two sisters, Margery Recher, Virginia Hutchins; and brother-in-law, Bob Meyer.
Entombment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m.
Memorials may be made in her name to St. John Bosco Catholic School.
A special thanks to the staffs at Pine Crest Village Assisted Living and the Skilled Nursing Facility at Ministry-Door County Medical Center.
