Helen M. Miller, 91, of Sturgeon Bay, died Wednesday morning, (November 14, 2012) at home following a lengthy illness.
She was born December 28, 1920 in Jacksonport, the daughter of the late Louis and Matilda (Bruckner) Orthober. Helen graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1939. She worked for Bunda’s and Red Owl. On February 14, 1941 she married Eugene C. Miller at Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church. He preceded her in death on May 19, 1994. They farmed in the Town of Sturgeon Bay on Big Creek Road. Helen enjoyed crocheting and knitting.
Survivors include her two children, James (Elizabeth) Miller of Naperville, IL and Rita Miller of Sturgeon Bay; eight grandchildren, Brent (Wendy) Miller, Tricia Thomas, Eric (Lori) Breske, Jennifer (Brian) Struc, Cindy Miller, Laura (Erik) Arnold, Jeannine (Matthew) Luke, Sebastian Majerus; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Marion Orthober of Egg Harbor.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Louis and Matilda Orthober; four brothers, Carl, Lloyd, Hubert, Frank Orthober; and her sister, Rita.
Friends may call Friday afternoon (November 16, 2012) from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay. Private family services will be held Saturday morning with burial to follow at Bayside Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in her memory to Unity Hospice.
