Timothy G. Kortendick

Timothy George Kortendick, 55, formerly of Racine, passed away at his home in Sister Bay Wednesday morning, November 21, 2012 with his family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on February 2, 1957 in Racine, the son of Kenneth George and Dorothy Ann (Hagner) Kortendick. Tim was a 1975 graduate of Horlick High School in Racine. On October 18, 1981 he married Heidi Lynn Wolter at Grace Lutheran Church in Racine.

Tim was employed with the family business in Racine, Better Building by Weather-Seal. He relocated to Door County where he worked for D.C. Interiors and Design for the past year.

Throughout his life, Tim preferred to keep his mind and body busy. He loved listening to music, eating good food, and traveling with close friends and family. He was also an avid reader who especially enjoyed biographies and books about history. As a skilled woodworker with high standards, Tim enjoyed building furniture and remodeling his living space. He also had a passion for Formula 1 Racing and was a member of the SCCA – Sports Car Club of America. His daughters will remember him for the dedication he showed in helping them to pursue their interests, his patient encouragement both in times of sadness and success, and his sense of humor, which was especially present when relaxing with his family.

Left to mourn Tim’s passing are his wife, Heidi; three daughters, Brittany of Racine, Alissa and Colleen, both of Boston, MA; parents, Kenneth and Dorothy Kortendick of Racine; brother, Andrew (Julie) Kortendick of Sturtevant; two sisters, Cindy (Jeff) DeMarb of Fond du Lac, and Susan Kortendick of Evanston, IL.

A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Maresh-Meredith Funeral Home in Racine with Rev. Randall Poppe officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:30 p.m. until the time of services at 7:30 p.m.
