Carl Dean Marschner, 78, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away with his family gathered around his bedside on November 8, 2012. He was born August 10, 1934, in Iowa to Ferd and Ina (Winsor) Marschner. Carl served his country in the U. S. Army from 1953-55. On June 25, 1955, he married Helen Lyon in Sheboygan.
Carl was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sturgeon Bay and the Door County Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed a number of pastimes including sailing and traveling with his wife around the country. He was also very active in his church and enjoyed being the driver on a number of youth mission trips. Carl was an avid student of history and enjoyed participating in pre-civil war historical re-enactments.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; five children, Carl (Mia) Marschner, Jr., South Milwaukee; Nancy (Mark) Staley, Pontiac, IL; Sandra (Michael) Graves, Fort Worth, TX; Steven (Karen) Marschner, Washburn; Gary (Amy) Marschner, Hudsonville, MI; 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel Cotts and Virginia Bahringer. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012, at First Baptist Church, Sturgeon Bay with Pastor Cory Dahl officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services. On-line condolences may be offered at www.forbesfuneralhome.com.
