Gloria L. Ramirez, 44 years, of Sturgeon Bay, formerly of Kewaunee, was called home early Saturday morning, September 22, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born January 17, 1968 in Mexico, the daughter of Ricardo and Maria Elena (Gonzalez) Santillan. On December 18, 1987 she married German Ramirez in Mexico. Gloria worked on the Brickner-Michaels Farm in the Town of Nasewaupee.
Gloria was a member of S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She was active in the Hispanic Resource Center for Door and Kewaunee Homemakers Community Education Program. She was a mother of four, and enjoyed raising her family and watching her children participate in high school events especially her children’s soccer games for Kewaunee high school.
Survivors include her loving husband, German of Sturgeon Bay; four children, German Jr. (Nerymar), Julio (Angelica) of Sturgeon Bay, Lizbeth and Marliyn at home; grandson, Julio Jr.; her parents, Ricardo and Maria Santillan of Mexico; seven sisters, Irma Santillan, Lucy (Lorenzo) Fiero, Madaga, Theresa, Carmen, Guadelupe Santillan; three brothers, Roberto (Sandra), Luis, Ricardo (Rosa); mother and father-in-law, Maria Covarrubias and Georgio Ramirez; compadres, Imelda and Ernest Delchambre, Rosario and Martin Calzada, Maribel and Manuel Romero, Angelica and Marco Calzada, Norma and Isai Ponce, Aracely and Eduardo Sanez, Alma and Alex Gutirrez, Paula and Jose Ramirez, Joselyn Jorge and Benlly, Karla and Mario Santillan; and many other special family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Monday (September 24, 2012) at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Institute north of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. Burial will follow at Hainesville Cemetery.
Friends may call at Huehns Funeral Home on Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of procession to church at 1:00 p.m.
A special thanks to the good people, nurses, doctors, and staff at Door County Medical Center - Oncology, especially Dr.’s Winkler, Tomajzski, and Capelle, along with the staff and nurses of Unity Hospice who gave Gloria such tender, and compassionate care.
