Clarice C. Nordin, 94, of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, died on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Ministry-Door County Medical Center in Sturgeon Bay.
She was born on March 3, 1918 in Mohawk, Michigan, the daughter of Charles and Agnes (Blue) Cronenworth. She was raised in the Copper Country and graduated from Calumet High School in 1935. That year she moved to Escanaba where she worked for the Michigan Liquor Control Commission.
Clarice met her husband Milton W. Nordin in Escanaba and they were married on April 16, 1938. He preceded her in death on January 26, 1971. They raised 3 sons in Escanaba and later in life Clarice worked for the Delta County Department of Social Services retiring in 1978. She then moved to California for 4 years and then to Sturgeon Bay in 1982. Clarice enjoyed being with her family and was actively involved in the interests of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved reading, bowling and had a passion for music, stating she knew the melodies and lyrics for at least 200 songs. Nothing gave her greater joy than to attend one of her grandchildren's or great-grandchildren/s sporting or musical events.
Survivors include her son, David (Lois) Nordin of Escanaba, Michigan; sister, Arling Raquet of Deerfield, Illinois; sister-in-law, Shirley Cronenworth of Texas; daughters-in-law, Pat (Jerry) Lamer of Sturgeon Bay and Penny Nordin of Pleasanton, California; eight grandchildren, Brad (Ann) Nordin, Alan (Megan) Nordin, Laura (Jon) VanDreese, Jeff (Pam) Nordin, Jennifer (Will) Miller, Kelly (Ryan) Hoernke, Colleen (friend, Jason) Nordin, Shawn (Dawn) Ryley; 11 great-grandchildren, Joel, Jared, Haley, Griffin, Nicholas, David, Delaney, Kendall, Kennedy, Keegan and Cassidy; and her dear nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Milton (1971); two sons Michael (1999), Thomas (2001); one sister, Betty; and one brother, Charles.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at the United Methodist Church of Sturgeon Bay on Thursday (September 13, 2012) at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Joe Mitchell officiating. Visitation will be at the church Thursday morning (September 13, 2012) starting at 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be next to her husband at Lakeview Cemetery in Escanaba.
