Russell, the son of Oscar and K. Margaret Reinhard, was born and raised in Door County, Wisconsin, graduated Gibraltar High School in 1964, and earned a B.A. in music and English from North Central College where he met his wife of 36 years, Michelle Rinehart. He served as an instrumentalist in the United States Air Force Band of the Reserve. A career teacher, he taught in Illinois and in the Lee County School District in Florida. While living in Cape Coral, Florida, Russ was on the Executive Board of Gulf Coast Opera Company, Lee County, Florida. He acted, directed, produced shows, and was rehearsal accompanist and in the pit and keyboard for shows with the company for over a period of 12 years. He was also involved in set design, set painting, and construction for most of the shows given by GCOC.
Since retirement, he and Michelle split their time between Florida and the cabin in the woods in Door County that he loved so much. Russ is survived by his wife, Michelle, son, Ted, daughter-in-law, Luiza, grandsons, Alexander and Eric. Sisters, M. Jeanne (Guy) Desotelle, Janet (Arden) Purvis, Joanne (Joe) Black and brother, Robert (Ethel) Reinhard and numerous nieces and nephews and Abby (his beloved puppy).
The memorial service for Russell Reinhard was held at Zion United Methodist Church, 8781 County F, Fish Creek, WI, 54212, on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 10:30. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
Russell was kind, loving, talented, musical, creative, funny, and intelligent and will be missed by all of us who have loved him so dearly.
