Mary "Mickey" Danis Fellows, 75, of Sturgeon Bay, died Thursday evening at her home on Bark Road at Whitefish Bay with her family at her side.
Mickey was born Mary Katherine Danis on November 18, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the daughter of the late Peter G. and Katherine Kramer Danis.
Following her graduation from Villa Duchesne High School in St. Louis, Mickey graduated from St. Louis University School of Nursing, where she later earned her Master's Degree in Nursing. After working at St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver, CO and Cardinal Glennon Memorial Hospital for Children in St. Louis (her father was a pediatrician who took part in founding the hospital) she became the Director of Nursing for Porter Kiehnau Home Health Care in Sturgeon Bay until her retirement.
On November 28, 1959 she married Boyd Williams Fellows at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in St. Louis.
Mickey was a member of Sigma Alpha Kai, supportive of the American Cancer Society, a member of PEO, past president of the Whitefish Bay Homeowners Association and the Glidden Drive Homeowners Association. She served on the board of ANA and was active in the Learning in Retirement program in Sturgeon Bay.
Survivors include her husband, Boyd of Sturgeon Bay, four children and their families, including Boyd Jr. (Donna) and their children, Boyd III, Brett and Kara of Ross, CA; Brian (Patty) and their children, Brittany, Brian Jr., Claire and Mary Grace of St. Louis; Fred (Laura) and their children, Carter, Morgan and Benjamin of Lake Forest, IL; Katherine (Donald) Dwyer of Tampa, FL. Mickey's siblings include Peter Jr. (Ann) Danis of Lake Forest, IL; Joanne Gormley of Scottsdale, AZ; Laura Wittenberg of Orinda, CA; David (Nancy) Danis of St. Louis; Tim (Jackie) Danis of St. Louis; Tom (Lucy) Danis of Aspen, CO; Debbie (Jack) Estes of Wilton, CT and sister-in-law Margot (Allan) Heininger of St. Louis.
Preceding Mickey in death were her parents, two brothers, Dr. Richard, and Fr. James Danis; an infant sister; two brothers-in-law, Werner Wittenberg and Edward Gormley, and a nephew, Steven Danis.
A Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday August 17, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay with Fr. Robert Konkol, OFM officiating. Visitors are welcome at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
Memorials may be given to Cardinal Glennon Children's Foundation, St. Louis.
