Paul 'Hoppy' R. Seiler

Paul R. Seiler, 75 years, of Algoma, with his family at his side, passed away early Saturday morning (August 4, 2012) at Ministry-Door County Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

He was born October 8, 1936 in Sturgeon Bay, the son of the late Henry and Arvella (Peronteau) Seiler.  Paul graduated from Gibraltar High School in 1954 and attended Algoma Normal School. He served his country in the U.S. Army in the Korean War from 1955-1957. On December 16, 1968 he married Patricia Ann Pontzloff in Chicago, Illinois.

Paul worked as a steel fitter for Christy Corp then Bay Ship. He continued fitting at PBI and Palmer Johnsons, and Kruegers in Green Bay. In 1997 Paul went to work for Hamilton in Manitowoc making medical equipment until his retirement in 2008.

He served as Local #449 Pipefitters Union President, and also worked as a Real Estate Broker. Paul enjoyed time spent with his family especially his sons and grandchildren. He loved talking politics, history, reading, and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Pat of Algoma; two sons, John (Rhonda) Seiler of Sevastopol, Kevin (fiancée, Tricia) Seiler of Algoma; four grandchildren, Ryan, Nathan, Trevor, Emma; one brother, Mark (Kathy) Seiler of Milwaukee.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Rita (Neil) Carter; and his favorite dog, Sparky.

Funeral services with military honors will be held at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday (August 9, 2012). Military honors by Algoma AMVETS Post #42 will be conducted on Thursday evening at 5:00 p.m. Burial will be made at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Baileys Harbor.

Friends may call Thursday evening at Huehns Funeral Home from 4:00 until the time of services at 7:00 p.m.
