Mrs. Reuben E. Smith, (nee: Marvell Birmingham) born October 4, 1916, made her transition from this life on Sunday evening, July 8, 2012 while at her home.
Her parents were the late William Harrison Birmingham and Vesta (Fritschler) Birmingham. Marvell graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1934 at 17 years of age. She moved to Milwaukee in the latter part of 1934 staying with her aunt. Marvell worked at two companies before her employment in the offices of Milwaukee Crane; this was the last place she worked before returning to Sturgeon Bay in 1947. On March 25, 1947 she married Reuben Edward Smith in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death in April of 2000.
Survivors include her son and caregiver for many years, Harrison of Sturgeon Bay; seven nephews; and six surviving nieces including Terri Larsen and Peggy Tong who remembered and cared.
Preceding her in death were her parents, William and Vesta Birmingham; husband, Reuben Smith; three sisters, Arlene Moore, Doris Tong, Deloris Larson; two brothers, Loren Birmingham, and North Birmingham.
Private services will be held.
Interment will take place at Bayside Cemetery.
A special appreciation is given to Dr. Paul Board and his staff, and to Unity Hospice and their care staff, Michel, Chris and Pat.
