Elayne Reimer

Elayne Reimer, 92 years, of Green Bay, formerly of Sturgeon Bay, died peacefully, surrounded by her adoring children, on Tuesday (June 26, 2012) at Unity Hospice in De Pere.

On December 10, 1919, in Green Bay, Elayne Irene Christensen was welcomed into this world by her loving parents, Arthur and Florence (Paulson) Christensen. She was one of six children raised by Arthur and Florence. Elayne graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1937.  On November 12, 1943 she married Milton August Reimer in Riverside, California. Milton passed before Elayne on June 12, 1994.

Elayne will be missed by her four children, Ronald (Nancy Horton) Reimer of Ettrick, Wisconsin, (and children, Harmony (Kevin) Bork with their son, Brandon, Corrine (Patrick) Erskine (and their children, Payton, Owen, Gavin), Hansel, Sally, and Emil Reimer; Judith Brawner of Neenah (and her two sons, Jesse and Samuel Brawner); Cheryl (Bruce) Bishop of Sturgeon Bay (Emilie Rose, Matthew and Christopher Bishop); Melanie (Mitch) Stimpson of Green Bay; two brothers, Arthur Jr. (Barbara) Christensen, Barry Christensen both of Green Bay; and her sister, Donna Christensen of  Wasilla, Alaska.

Those who welcomed her into heaven were her infant daughter, Marilyn; parents, Arthur and Florence; husband, Milton; and two sisters, Gloria Parmentier, Fern (Lancor) Christensen.

Elayne will be remembered for her always present love of family. She was the ultimate homemaker whether it was a home cooked meal, her chocolate chip cookies, her rhubarb pie, a mended pair of pants, a welcoming home, or a gentle hand on your fevered forehead, she was there. Granky’s love of music can be felt in each one of her musically gifted grandchildren. While she adored her husband, Milton, Saturday evenings were reserved for another man, Lawrence Welk. We all know Elayne had the voice to be his “champagne lady.” Just ask the residents at Anna’s who she often serenaded. Elayne loved life; she had a cheerful smile, a positive spirit, an astonishing talent for an instant pun, and always left a song in your heart. We feel blessed to have had her with us for so long on earth and now we have an angel in heaven who knows our names.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday (July 7, 2012) at Hope United Church of Christ with Rev. Richard Feyen officiating. Burial will follow at Bayside Cemetery.

Friends may call on Saturday July 7, 2012 at Hope Church after 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at 10:30 a.m.

Memorials may be made in her name for Unity Hospice and Hope United Church of Christ.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation for the many kindnesses shown to our mother during her residence at Anna’s Healthcare in New Franken. We are forever grateful for the grace and dignity shown by the caring staffs at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay, and Unity Hospice in De Pere.

Huehns Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
