Donald J. Shusta, 66, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away on June 13, 2012, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on Jan. 17, 1946, in Manitowoc County, to Joseph and Catherine (Sauer) Shusta. Don was a graduate of Reedsville High School. He owned and operated Brillion Bottling Co. for 18 years. While living in Brillion, Don served on the city council for 10 years, including a 2 year term as president. He was also active in the Brillion Jaycees. He later moved to Door County and worked as the manager of the Door Peninsula Winery. He currently owned the Door County Shuttle and Taxi service, which will continue to be operated by his family. On May 19, 2007 he married Janice (Borchardt) Froding at Hainesville Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jan; 2 children, Duayne Shusta, Kaukauna; and Douglas (Cherie) Shusta, Neenah; 3 grandchildren, Gary, Casey and Andy Shusta; a sister, Eileen (Dean) Leschke, Newton; step-daughter, Danielle (Alex) Davis, Madison; 2 step-grandchildren, Angela and Alex Davis IV. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2012, at the Forbes Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Wick officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
