Nancy I. Gunnlaugsson

Nancy I. Gunnlaugsson, 69, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away at Golden Hills Living Center – Dorchester on August 25, 2014. She was born on November 5th, 1944, in Sturgeon Bay to Walter and Violet Brungraber of West Jacksonport. Nancy was the 4th of 7 children and graduated from Sevastopol High School and later the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. She worked as a second grade teacher at Sunset Elementary School in Sturgeon Bay for the majority of her career following a year teaching in Hawaii. She will be remembered for her dedication to elementary education, her alacrity for traveling, and her enthusiastic devotion to her family – particularly her grandchildren.

On June 20, 1970, she married Danny V. Gunnlaugsson in West Jacksonport. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Rebecca Gunnlaugsson of Columbia, South Carolina, as well as 3 grandsons – Thomas (15), Michael (13), and James (11). She is also survived by 2 brothers: Richard and Russell Brungraber; as well as 4 sisters: Evelyn Kohls, Irma Marsh, Eileen Biwer and Lorraine Kantin. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Danny.

Memorial services will be conducted at Bay View Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. on Sat. Sept. 13, 2014 with Rev. Timothy Malek officiating. Burial will be in a private ceremony at Bayside Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
