Daniel A. Huber, age 84 of the Town of Carlton died on Thursday, July 3, 2014. He was born in Carlton on November 29, 1929 to the late George L. And Antonia (Svoboda) Huber.
He graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1947. He enterd the U. S. Army in 1951 and served until 1953 in the Korean War. After the service, he was a member of Battery B, 887th Artillery Bn Reserve of Kewaunee as a training instructor.
He married Jean Hruska on September 12, 1959 at St. Joseph Church in Pilsen. He worked all of his life at Leyse Aluminum Company which later became Volrath Company.
He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Church, Norman, now St. Isidore the Farmer Parish, Robinson American Legion Post 538 of Carlton, Catholic Financial, formerly Catholic Knights. He enjoyed going on retreats at Chambers Island for over thirty years, deer and turkey hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed tinkering in his shop. The highlight of his life was raising beefalos.
Survivors include his wife: Jean; one daughter and son-in-law: Marie and Anthony Krcma, Denmark; one son and daughter-in-law: Andrew and Tracy Huber, St. Charles, IL; five grandchildren: Phillip, Nathan, Nicholas and Kyle Krcma, Gina Huber. Two sisters-in-law: Marilyn (Ben) Pelishek, Kewaunee and Janet Hruska, Luxemburg and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Adolph Huber and Lester (Eugenia) Huber; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: James and Marie (Pelishek) Hruska, one brother-in-law: James Hruska; one sister-in-law: Carole (John) Apker.
Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Monday, July7 at Buchanan Funeral Home, Kewaunee. American Legion service will be held at 6:30 p.m. and a parish wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m. by Dcn. Robert and Christal Wavrunek. Visitation continues at St. Isidore the Farmer Church in Tisch Mills at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until the Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. by Fr. Ralph Merkatoris.
