Damir A. Maggle, 25, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 28, 2014.
He was born January 23, 1989, in Moscow, Russia, the loving son of Daniel and Mary (Schaefer) Maggle. Damir was on the Southern Door Eagles football team and graduated from Southern Door High School in 2007. He received his associates degree in marketing and was currently enrolled at NWTC, pursuing certification in welding.
Damir recently obtained his life guard certification and was employed as a Lifeguard at the Door County YMCA. One of his greatest passions was being a member of the Sturgeon Bay Underwater Hockey Team. He loved the outdoors, hiking with his dog, Bailey, all types of fishing, and camping. He loved playing underwater hockey and working as a lifeguard at the YMCA. Damir especially loved being with his best friends, Christopher, Eddy, and Kory.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Jane Maggle; father, Daniel Frank Maggle, both of Sturgeon Bay; two brothers, Ben Maggle (and his daughter, Emily of Green Bay), Mike (Elizabeth) Maggle of De Pere; paternal grandmother, Clara Maggle of Sturgeon Bay; his dear golden retriever, Bailey; the Maggle family, uncle, Joe (Bonnie) Maggle of Sturgeon Bay, aunt, Sharon (Bob) Schoening of Appleton, uncle, Bob (Lynn) Maggle of Sturgeon Bay, uncle, Ken (Cheryl) Maggle of Brussels; the Schaefer family, aunt, Barbara Tanck of West Jacksonport, uncle, Jim (Mary) Schaefer of Sturgeon Bay, aunt, Debra Schaefer, many dear cousins; and friends. Damir was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Doris Schaefer; uncle, Larry Schaefer; paternal grandfather, Roland Maggle; and cousin, Andy Maggle.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay with Fr. Carl Schmitt and Fr. Anthony Birdsall concelebrating.
Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening, at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay and at the church, Thursday morning, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. There will be a wake service held at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday evening, at Huehns Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given in Damir’s memory for the Sturgeon Bay Underwater Hockey Team.
Damir lived a beautiful life and loved being with people. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
