Janice M. Johnson, 64, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away unexpectedly at her home early Sunday morning, March 16, 2014.
She was born May 14, 1949, in Chicago, the daughter of the late Jerry and Mae Rocen. Janice had taught English before moving to Door County to start the Door County Potato Chip Company. Currently, she was the manager of the Maritime Museum’s stores in Door County.
In 1997, Janice married James “JJ” E. Johnson in New Orleans, LA. Meeting three years prior, they have enjoyed 20 years together. Janice loved following the Packers and traveling, especially to St. Thomas, Las Vegas, NV, and Jamaica. Her cats, Lucky and Reggie, were very special to her. She was a fun-loving, classy lady who was also a great cook.
Those left to mourn her passing include her husband, James “JJ” of Sturgeon Bay; dear nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Steve) Beltran of Chicago, IL, Scott Rocen of Sturgeon Bay, Jerry (Valerie) Rocen of Chicago, IL, Patrick (Jennie) Rocen of Fox River Grove, IL; and her sister-in-law, Toni Rocen of Pecatonica, IL.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Mae Rocen; and her brother, Jerry Rocen.
Friends may call Wednesday afternoon, March 19, 2014, after 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Huehns Funeral Home, 1414 Michigan St., Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235. A service of remembrance will follow at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Huehns Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Boettcher officiating.
