Elizabeth A. "Bess" Cmeyla

Elizabeth A. "Bess" Cmeyla, 94 of Luxemburg passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 18, 2014.

Bess was born January 19, 1920 in the town of Red River, Kewaunee County to the late John and Laura (Dupont) DuChateau.

Bess had been a Luxemburg resident since 1935.

She graduated from Luxemburg High School in 1937, attended Badger Business College, was employed by the Wisconsin Public Service Co. and also worked at Badger State Cheese for several years.

She married Richard Cmeyla on June 12, 1943 in San Diego, CA. at St. Joseph Cathedral.

They then lived in Norfolk, VA. where their first son, James was born.

She was a member of St. Mary Church, Luxemburg, the Christian Mother Society of St. Mary, the American Legion Auxiliary, a charter member of Northbrook Ladies League and Northbrook Ladies Bridge Marathon.

She was a volunteer for several local organization throughout the years.

Her enjoyments included playing bridge, golfing and her true joy was time spent with her family at the cottage and being with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Richard, one daughter, Laura (Christian) Tauziac, Pensacola, FL. two sons, Joe (Cindy) Cmeyla, Green Bay; Jack Cmeyla, Luxemburg; grandchildren, James (Jennifer) Tauziac, Kristin Cmeyla, Kelsey Cmeyla and Karyn Cmeyla, one brother and three sisters-in-law, Joe (Anita) DuChateau, Milwaukee; Joan DuChateau, Luxemburg; Joyce Peterson, Racine; nieces and nephews, special cousins and many dear friends.

Bess was preceded in death by one son James Cmeyla, her parents, two brothers, John DuChateau and Ronald DuChateau and one sister Marie.

Friends may call between 9:00 and 10:45 am Saturday, February 22, 2014 at St. Mary Church 1412 Main Street, Luxemburg, Wi. Funeral 11:00 am Saturday with Rev. Milton Suess officiating. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Luxemburg.

McMahon Funeral Home, Luxemburg is assisting the Cmeyla Family.

The Cmeyla Family wishes to extend a thank you to Rev. Milton Suess for his many visits and Evelyn Rass for her great kindness and generosity.
